Bunionette

A bunionette, also known as a tailor’s bunion or bunionette deformity, is a painful bunion formation at the base of the little toe, similar to that of the big toe.

This results in a pressure point in the shoe on the outer side of the foot.

When is surgery needed?

In cases of persistent pain and inflammation, a surgical procedure can help.

What happens during surgery?

By realigning the fifth metatarsal bone, similar to the correction of a hallux valgus, the painful lateral bunion can be removed.

Aftercare

Full weight-bearing in a post-operative shoe is permitted for 4–5 weeks.
